I was reminiscing on the power of the soundtrack last week and was thinking about my personal favourites.
I love big American soundtracks such as Fame (1980), Love Jones (1997), A Star Is Born (2018) and Sister Act 2 (1993).
But I wanted to - a day after the 2021 BAFTAs - focus on homegrown films
I really hope British films will have the combined support in the next decade from the UK film and record industries to have the best soundtracks/scores for their films.

Featuring music by the Dizzee Rascal, Wiley and a score by The Angel, this film captures the spirit of Noughties London.

Been So Long
(2018)
Virgin EMI Records
Starring Michaela Coel and Arinze Kene and music by Christopher Nicholas, Bangs and Arthur Darvill this London based musical was a refreshing take on a romance flick. We need to keep experimenting on original contemporary musicals!

This all female British soundtrack was it!
Ray Blk’s song “Warriors”, written specifically for the film was a highlight, as well as music from Jorja Smith, Little Simz, Stefflon Don, Mae Muller, Lola Young and Mabel ft. Not3s.
